Math
We are beginning topic 3,  Subtraction Strategies

We will also begin our weekly time test this week. On Tuesday we will take an addition test and on Thursday we will take a subtraction test.  The goal for  second grade is to pass 15 problems in 1 minute.  This is a great time to get out the subtraction and addition flash cards.

We are very lucky this year to get to use a program called Reflex math to help monitor and learn basic math facts. Today we sent sometime getting on the program and setting up our characters.  Your student will be able to use this program both at home and at school. We do ask that the students NOT let other children play their character. This is a learning and monitoring tool for basic math facts and should not be done by other children on your child's account. In the WoW folder you will find the login information along with our child's username and password.

Writing

The focus in writing for the next few weeks is gathering ideas for topics and sticking to the topic. We will be adding details to our writing to tell more and make a better picture for our readers. Included in this will be writing a complete sentence with words in the correct order.  Labeling what is the naming part of the sentence and what is the telling part.
